A study in the U.S. surveyed people to see if they had used AI (ChatGPT) and how useful they found the tool to be.
The results are mixed, but maintain a certain trend:
15% found it extremely useful, 20% very useful, and 39% somewhat useful.
My experience and opinion after several months
Personally, I thought it was just hype, then I downplayed its importance (it always seems easier not to do something than to do it), and finally I decided to experiment with it after seeing that the Discourse development team—the creators of Stack Overflow—showed interest.
AI contributed what was needed to the community for Criptonautas to continue its development, because the people who tried it gave up on everything they set out to do.
I find that if we keep our goals clear, AI can be VERY useful for developing digital projects; however, at the same time, I am fully aware that it has displaced or will displace 90% of online jobs.
