The era of Maker being an „entity-uninfluenced“ project has come to an end. Although some DAI tokens that lack remote freeze capability remain in circulation, the project is completely rebranding DAI and emphasizing its new stablecoin, USDS.
During a currently ongoing phase-out period, Maker will apply a 1:1 convertibility parity between DAI and USDS. Furthermore, it is incentivizing users to abandon DAI for USDS with a suite of financial rewards on Sky.money, its new application for „native token rewards“.
Maker is also introducing a new governance token, SKY, which is ostensibly superior to Maker’s previous governance token, MKR. Founder and leader Rune Christensen assures his followers that all these changes will attract large sums of capital to Maker, which in his view will somehow match Tether’s reserves within three years.
