Cheering for certain products or services is an “argentineada” (Argentine habit) that I left behind in my new version 
Duckduckgo blocked my account, did not respond to my support request and forced me to self-host a truly open-source solution.
They blocked me from several exchanges this way and forced me to further shield my servers (personal, as I did with Criptonautas) to remain private.
The general rule will always be to trust no one but our own abilities.
What does self-hosting open-source mean?
- Only I and whoever manages to break into my servers will be able to access my data.
- The applications I use will be publicly audited by everyone simultaneously.
- I will learn (and work hard) to become independent from the reliance installed by “third-party services”.
- Duckduckgo would eventually be handing over my information.
Is it paranoia? reality
Many people are in prison and a lot of money is available to digitally investigate and persecute activists.
Just as few people know what I like when having sex, how I prefer my eggs for breakfast, or why I don’t eat ripe bananas. Few people know what I search for on the internet.
Federal agents do not pursue criminals but rather those who work for and for freedom in moral, ethical, and legally lawful activities.
Criptonautas values (like me) privacy, because I was the one who installed its basic foundations.
We left some obvious apps and we are also leaving those that seem to be secure.
In that last group, no matter how much it pains us (and we have to let go of our loyalties), DuckDuckGo entered.
