Reflections on market manipulation

Back when I started learning to trade and didn’t know about this community, I followed some “traders” on YouTube and kept an eye on crypto market fundamentals.

I understand fundamentals to be news that impacts the price of an asset, either upward or downward.

In those days, when I was lost in social media, Elon Musk used those platforms to somehow push these fundamentals.

Clearly, this gentleman continues with the same attitudes, or at least that’s what the so-called specialized press claims.

I just wanted to point out that these noises still exist in the system and we need to gradually filter them out. In addition, I started studying a bit about what is happening with the PayPal system based on the news.

I hope to contribute a little bit and that it helps someone.

Best regards,

We can summarize the Forbes article with the following points:

  • A leak suggests that Elon Musk could turn X (Twitter) into an “updated version of PayPal.”
  • PayPal’s support for bitcoin and crypto in late 2020 helped kickstart the latest bitcoin price bull run that catapulted bitcoin to nearly US$ 70,000.
  • “We’re starting to see people settle transactions with stablecoins, whether they are minted on a private or public blockchain, and we like that too because what it’s starting to demonstrate is that the technology itself is improving mainstream financial services,” said the PayPal executive.

Interesting approach. While Forbes is prestigious, the article paints it as pure marketing.

Hi Sergio! I added what you mentioned to the post, so we can know what it’s about before clicking the link :ok_hand:

What influence do you think it has on price and on the flows of institutions or retail? What would be the move you see?

Usually, the masses act as liquidity, buying what institutions sell, but the reverse can also happen where they buy what the majority gives away.

It works because retail doesn’t have time to research or dedicate themselves to it (busy generating and paying debts, making money for others, or supporting the State from “their” businesses).
